Industrial Rwvolution Essay

Omar Shiha Mr. Glavanis May-21-2012 Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution happened in England in the 1800's. The revolution was about advancements in technology, politics, economy, social, and natural resources. As there were many advancements the most important and most major advancement is the social advancement, which impacted many other things in their country. Social is most important industrial revolution cause because it had an affect on the country. It had happened because of the people in England have increased their literacy. People in England had the desire to improve their education and their methods of learning. This helps people to invent machines and work in factories for their ability to read. Another example is their increase in population. This allowed them to have people to work in all kinds of jobs. Last but not least is their improvement in transportation, which lead to the invention of the steam powered engine. This led to their improvement in technology. The steam powered engine, that was created by James Watt, was a very vital advancement in technological advancements. This helped them create the steam powered train. The steam powered train that was invented by George Stephenson, after the steam powered engine. The steam powered train was a more efficient and better use in transportation. It helped people cover long distance in a shorter period of time compared to what they were using. It also helped them carry goods with them around like food, jewelry and so on. Also they have improved their construction methods in other technology related places. Also they have created stuff like digging machines which helped them in their natural resources mining. The production of machinery helped England in their natural resources. It helped them dig out coal which was an important source of energy for them. Most of their machinery would run on coal making it their most used natural resource. Also they have improved their food production methods by doing enclosures. Enclosures are when an aristocrat buys a piece of the common land, and puts a fence around to say it is his. As this method was good for people, it was bad for others. It was bad because the made sure that fewer people were needed on land because of machinery. This made people unemployed and looking for jobs in the city. But this had an impact on the political wealth and trade of the country. England began to trade with many countries in the world. This made England expand their empire through trade. Trading with other countries forced England to improve their navy. England improved their navy because other countries, like France, would steal their ships and cut off their roads to their destination. This helped England build oversea colonies. Also trading was very important in their country they even fought wars to secure their trade and to benefit from their trade incomes. For example the opium wars was fought because England wanted to trade opium with China. But China refused, and England fought them. This had made the country richer through trading. After England started to become richer and people had money. The Bank of England was created in the year 1694. It was created for two reasons. One, is to let people put their money in the bank with them. Secondly, is that the navy needed new machinery products, and iron. The bank helped collect money for improving the navy. This way they have increased their wealth and improved their banking methods. In conclusion, the industrial revolution had an impact on England in many different ways. For example in social and scientific/technology advancements. England was able to produce the steam powered engine which had a positive effect on them because it increased their wealth in different ways. Also increasing their wealth they still had many flaws with the steam engine. For example it produced to much pollution. But later on they had fixed it that problem.
